Tuesday I had to go into work, so the girls got to go spend the day with Mimi. Mimi got them both new shoes which was VERY exciting! Cameron got light up Dora shoes...enough said! After I finished up with work on Tuesday morning I came home to meet some work guys who were putting the finishing touches on our NEW PATIO and SIDEWALK! I love, love, love it! It makes our backyard space so much more useable and makes it so much easier to walk around the side of our house.
When Ryan got home, we picked the girls up at Mimi's house and took them down to Superpop and Granne's house. They spent the night there so we could go spend the night in Denver to celebrate our 7th anniversary. Holy heck, how has 7 years gone by already?? I have no idea, but all I have to say is I sure am glad that I've gotten to spend all those years with such an amazing guy!
We stayed at a hotel downtown and had a little bit of a progressive dinner...I think this is kind of becoming our thing! We went to one restaurant, Row 14, for cheese and wine, and then went to another place, Rioja, for more wine and entrees. The original plan was to hit up a 3rd place for dessert, but I was too stuffed at that point.
Wednesday morning we hit up another place for breakfast called Syrup. It was pretty good and our server was a really sweet German girl who filled us in on the best places in Denver to get tattoos... I'm thinking I might just have to get one ;)
On our way home we stopped at Costco to get a few food items that we needed and ended up coming home with this sucker. WHAT! How the heck did that happen. I think my husband was pretty stoked that there was a good sales guy AND this other random woman who was raving about the thing. She was thinking about upgrading to a bigger one and couldn't stop talking about how amazing they are. Anyway, the combination was enough to get me over the edge, so thus this Traeger grill/smoker is now sitting on our deck.
I doped dinner off for a friend and picked up the girls Wednesday evening while Ryan stayed home and did some work on the backyard. When we got home we decorated the girls bikes in preparation for our 4th of July bike parade! Here's Sydney testing out her bike.
Thursday was the 4th of July. We started the day off with the bike parade. A few friends and I organized this thing for the first time last year and it was so much fun we decided to keep the tradition going. Well year two was even better than year one! We had a great turn out and the girls had a blast. It was cool to see how much all the kids have changed over the course of the year.
After the parade everyone got popsicles and we hung out at the park for a little bit before heading home for lunch and naps.
Then around 4pm a whole bunch of our neighbors came over for a BBQ! It was awesome. All Cameron and Sydney's best friends were there and we had a blast catching up with all the adults. Plus the food was AMAZING! Everyone brought something and I was in heaven! I didn't get any pictures of the festivities... I guess I was too busy stuffing my face, go figure. :)
After everyone left Ryan, the girls and I headed to Sunset Golf Course to watch the fireworks. It was perfect. We found a great spot to campout while we were waiting. The girls got glow-in-the-dark wands and necklaces and had a blast running around playing while we waited for the show to start.
The fireworks were really good! Ryan and I were thinking about it and it's been like 4 years since we saw 4th of July fireworks. We've either been traveling, or they've been canceled so it's been awhile. Cameron thought the fireworks were great. Afterwards she kept asking me where the man was who was taking her picture. I had no idea what she was taking about then I finally figured out she thought the fireworks were a camera flash and someone was taking her picture! HA Silly kiddo. Sydney wasn't so sure about the fireworks at first, but once she got snuggled into my shoulder she was brave enough to open her eyes and check out the show.
We finally got the girls to bed around 11pm that night. We were all tired, but it was so worth it. SUCH a fun day.
Ryan got me the most AMAZING flowers for our anniversary. They are so beautiful! The florist messed up, so they didn't get delivered until the 5th, but that's ok with me! This is the card I made for him (I know it's not exactly PC, but don't judge me!) :)
Friday was fun too. We actually didn't do a whole lot which was nice. We watched movies, rested and just hung out at home. Then Uncle Ross came over for dinner. He spent the night with us because Ryan and I had to leave really early Saturday morning for the Longmont Half Marathon.
Yes, that's right, I ran another half marathon. It was awesome! I had a blast. I know, you all think I'm crazy, but I really do love running. The great thing about this course is that it is in Longmont so I was familiar with it, and it is close by which was nice, AND it was all downhill! The bad thing...it started at 6:00am, which means my alarm went off at 4:30am. YIKES! Not my favorite.
I didn't quite hit the time I wanted to run, but I felt pretty strong the whole time, so that's a plus. Considering I haven't been able to put as much time into training as I would like I can be happy with that.
Speaking of my time...I'm actually not exactly sure what my time was! I didn't run my watch the whole time so I didn't keep track and the official race timing system crashed mid race, so all the times got screwed up. From what I can tell I ran about two minutes slower than my goal time. I was kind of mad at myself for not keeping my own time so I would know for sure. Oh well, what can you do...I guess just run another race. :)
Saturday after the race, Ryan and I took the girls to the pool for awhile, then we took naps before heading to church. After church we made a last minute decision to go to Red Robin for dinner. Cameron was funny, she really wanted to take her picture with the robin.
Then this morning, Ryan got up early to go on a bike ride (I didn't mention that he's been able to go on three morning bike rides this week!) and I slept in until the girls got up. Then we just hung out around the house working on random projects. The plan is to test out the new grill tonight... should be exciting. :)
Yes, 4th of July Twenty13 is going down in the books as one of the best! It's times like this that make me LOVE summer! :)
