Eatin' Solids

Cameron tried solid food for the first time this weekend--rice cereal. Honestly, I don't think she was a big fan. I'm not sure if it's because eating something other than breast milk is so different, or if she just really didn't like the way it tasted. I guess we'll have to wait and see how she does as we start to introduce other, more exciting, foods.

She also got to try drinking water out of a sippy cup for the first time. I don't think she really figured out how it worked, but she loved holding the cup and chewing on the drinking spout.

We're nerdy first time parents, so of course this was a big event for us. We took lots of pictures and videos. I'm not going to be sad if you don't watch the entire video, I know it's kind of long.

The before picture.

I think most of the food ended up on her, not in her mouth.

She liked playing with the spoon more than anything else.

What a sweet, messy girl!

First time "drinking" out of a sippy cup.

Post first meal, Cameron kept trying to pull at Ryan's hat, so he put it on her, ha!

On Sunday afternoon we went to the Rockies game with some of Ryan's family. We had a great time and, despite an eventful 9th inning, the Rockies managed to pull out the win. It was Faith Day, so after the game Jeremy Camp preformed.

Sean drank formula from early days so the transition to cereal mixed with water and formula wasn't too bad. Is it possible to mix your milk or some formula in with the cereal so it tastes more like what she's use to?
and i bet the texture kinda threw her off too. i'm sure she'll come to love it!

Also remember that she doesn't know how to use her tongue. She is used to sucking to get the food from the front of her mouth to her throat. She'll have to figure out how to use her tongue to move the food from the front to the back of her mouth.

She'll figure it out before you know it.

Please give her kisses from us!!
