The big 3-0...yikes!

That's right folks, I have moved into a new decade of my life...my 30's. But in the words of Miss Annie Walsh Kahr, "30 is going to be GREAT!"

Thursday, the ACTUAL birthday, wasn't anything too exciting. The girls and I had a mini lunch celebration at Superpop and Granne's house (complete with a Royal Red Robin Burger (YUM), cookie cake and balloons) which was really fun.

But the real excitement began Friday night when Ryan and I headed to Denver for a weekend ALONE! Oh my gosh it was amazing!

Friday we had a late dinner at Maggiano's.Then Saturday we SLEPT IN (yes it was WONDERFUL), got up went for a run, had breakfast at Snooze, went back to the hotel, took a nap, got cleaned up, did a little shopping and then, headed out for a progressive dinner.

Now I need to explain the progressive dinner. You see, we hardly ever go to Denver. Yes, it is kind of sad considering it's so darn close. But with kids and all, "close" just doesn't cut it. We need really, really, really close to make it a viable outing these days. Anyway, a few weeks ago I had the realization that we really need to take advantage of Denver. We don't need to plan some big, far away trip. Denver is right there. Thus the reason for the Denver getaway.

Ok, now back to the progressive dinner. Since our time in Denver was short, AND we probably won't get back there again anytime soon, I decided we need to take full advantage. As most of you know I'm a little bit obsessed with food, so when we started to plan dinner on Saturday, I couldn't pick just one place to go. So thus, the progressive dinner concept was born. We hit up 3 amazing restaurants though out the evening. It was such a fun idea. We spread it out so we weren't completely stuffed and we got to try a nice variety of dishes and enjoy the different ambience of each place.

First stop, Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs Restaurant for some quality dogs and beer.

Second stop, TAG for some sushi and "yuppie" drinks.

Third stop, Cheesecake Factory for some yummo cheesecake.

We contemplated a fourth stop, but I was pretty tired (it was like 9pm...geeze!) so we just decided to go back to the hotel and watch a movie.

Sunday morning we enjoyed sleeping an extra hour for daylight savings, then we got up went to church and did a little more shopping (I was in desperate need of clothes). Then we picked up our little munchkins from Granne and Superpop's house. I think it's safe to say they didn't miss us TO much. :)

Thank you honey-poo for the fun weekend! And thank you Superpop and Granne for taking care of our little munchkins. And thank you everyone else for the birthday wishes. Here's to 30! It IS going to be great!
