Rain, Rain GO AWAY!

We survived the 100 year Colorado flood! Yep that's right...FLOOD. I'm talking something like 20" and a week of rain. For Colorado, the state with 300 days of sunshine, rain like that is unheard of. We were extremely fortunate and didn't have any damage, but there were a lot of others, some not very far from us, who were not so lucky. It was seriously amazing to see the amount of water that flowed through our little town of Longmont. At one point, Longmont was completely divided in half. Absolutely crazy.

After two days of rain we were starting to get a little stir crazy. But lucky for us, we have a trampoline in the basement, so the girls were able to get some energy out. We also made homemade pizza which was fun.

After three days of rain, thing were starting to get a little crazy. Schools and businesses were shutting down. I was just thankful that Ryan made it home from work. The girls and I managed to stay busy though. We made a boat...you know, just in case. :)

When it was still raining on day four I was starting to get a little nervous because the girls and I were supposed to fly to New Jersey to visit family. I spent a long time on the computer trying to figure out the best way to get to the airport avoiding road closures, etc. Once I had our route figured out, I took Sydney and snuck out for a short run while there was a break in the rain. I was kind of interested to check out the areas around our house. There wasn't any serious damage, just a ton of water where there shouldn't be.

We made it to the airport without any problems, thank goodness! We did see a ton of water and a bunch of damage on drive though, which was sad to see. It's just so strange to see something like THIS in a place where you live and drive all the time.

In a crazy time, like during this flood, there is only one place to put your trust. I saw this verse and thought it was a good reminder...

Please continue to pray for all the Colorado flood victims. While the flood is just a memory for us, there are hundreds of people who are still trying to figure out what they're going to do, where they are going to go, how they are going to rebuild. I can't imagine what that would be like. Lord God bless them, comfort them, and keep them in the palm of your hand.

Cameron's First Soccer Game

My soccer mom days have officially begun...I am seriously so excited! The Monkeys had their first game a couple weeks ago and it was a riot. The U4 kiddos play 3-on-3 and the best way to describe it is, well...crazy. Cameron did great, she ran circles around the other kids (literally)...now we just need to work on getting her to go after the ball! She would run up and down the field waiving at us, but she wasn't super interested in going after the ball at first. After a little encouragement, she finally figured it out and scored a couple goals (one in the other teams goal, but that's ok!)

Let the game begin!

Here's Coach Ryan and Coach Raph giving their pre-game motivational speech...

And then Coach Raph pumping up the bench...

While Coach Ryan was on the field providing some last minute guidance.

And then, the kick off!

A bunch of cute little Monkeys...

Leave it up to Cameron to find a "teeny, tiny ant" during the game.

Half time oranges...it's very important to refuel. ;)

Lining up to shake hands after the game.

Looking like a champ ("a totally annoyed with her mom for taking a gazillion pictures" champ!)

Here's Cameron with her little buddy Mason.

Fans are extremely important, and the Monkey's had a lot of really great fans including Sydney and Superpop.

First Day of Preschool

This little twinkle toes had her first day of preschool this week! On the first day she was SO excited that she was out of bed and dressed in about 5 minutes. For those of you who know Cameron you know she is a SLEEPYHEAD, so the fact she was up and adam that quickly was no short of a miracle. When she got home she kept asking when she could go back to preschool. In short, I think preschool has been a success so far!

And this is what happens when you take too many pictures :)...

Side note: Sydney was devastated when Daddy took Cameron to school the first day. She cried for a good 15 minutes and kept pointing down the street where they had driven away. Poor baby. She's never really been apart from her sister like that before.

A Lot of This and That

We never miss an opportunity to stop and smell the roses.

Sydney and her little neighbor friend Gabby.

We got this tag-a-long from a neighbor and Sydney loved it! She couldn't reach the peddles, but she just tucked her feet up and held on. Cameron wasn't so sure about the whole thing.

This is what happens when you forget to bring swimming suits to a park that has a water feature. Thank goodness it was a gazillion degrees so they at least dried off quickly.

Look at this little mother in the making, cutting her food and holding baby all at the same time (right after she cooked a full dinner and set the table!)

Sydney still isn't clear on what to do with paint. Crazy kid!

We had dinner with some friends a few weeks ago. Look at all these kiddos sitting at the table all by themselves. #sogrownup

For those of you who were wondering, this is how we exercise at our house...in style! (These pictures are from a run I went on with the girls).

There is a great rose garden by the pool we go to, so (of course) I forced the girls to pose for me one day after swimming.

Sydney "borrowed" this baby from her friend Gabby a few weeks ago and wouldn't put it down for days. I finally had to buy her a new baby so that she would give Gabby's baby back.

Here we are, just playing at the "train park", notice Cameron's sweet outfit (yeah, I'm thinking it's getting a little small!)

Ryan's office had a going away party for a few employees. Sydney was making friends with the boys AND chowing on some yummy cupcakes. That's my girl!

This makes my heart melt, sweet sisters reading books together.

We went to the Denver Children's Museum a few weeks ago. It is such a fun place, especially the grocery store section.

Papa and Mimi took Cameron on a special outing to the circus, so Ryan and I took Sydney out for a date night just the three of us. We went out to dinner and then went to play at the park. I think she was digging being an only child.

Two cool cats on our way into church.

Cameron got a new haircut. She was so good at the salon and the new hair-doo is pretty darn cute if you ask me.

Ryan had tickets to the VIP tent at the start of Stage 6 of the Pro Cycling Challenge. We got to see all of the famous cycling people up close.

I'm not sure exactly what the girls were doing, but Granne sent us these pictures while the girls were at her house one day.

Mimi's birthday was August 28.

Cameron started soccer. These are a couple pictures from her first practice. Analucia and Mason are her little friends!

And of course Sydney was hanging out at practice too. This is her with Ethan, Analucia's little brother.

My Aunt and Uncle came to visit over Labor Day. Cameron and Sydney loved hanging out with their boys.

We also went to a baseball game with the fam. I don't think I really watched any of the game, but I think the girls had fun! This picture is courtesy of Cameron. :)

Monday morning Ryan and I ran the Park to Park 10 miler. It was a really nice run. (Don't have any pictures from that).

Monday night, we went to Nic and Rachael's wedding celebration. I love weddings! I just think it's so much fun to share in such an important day of someone's life!

And last but not least, here are the girls "Shakin' their bodies". Where do they get this stuff?? :)

And with that, our summer comes to an end. {TEAR} It was definitely one fun summer! I'm so not ready for it to be over. But I guess now it's onto pumpkin everything... it could be worse. :)
