Volk Family Photos

When Annie and Nick were home we did a big family photo shoot with Corrie Kraft @ CKP (check out her website). She always does a great job and we got some really cute photos (despite the fact that Sydney was being a little rascal and wasn't really interested in cooperating). I love how much our kiddos love their cousins!

Farm Camp

Superpop and Granne surprised the girls by treating them to a week at farm camp at Sunflower Farm. Oh my goodness, it was AWESOME! I'm not even kidding, this place was heaven for a kid. They got to see so many animals and try a ton of new things--feeding the animals, riding the horses, playing in the water, zip lining, climbing hay bales, and SO MUCH MORE! They got to go with their friends Bella and Gabby which was icing on the cake. And while the girls were at camp, Kelton and I got to hang out just the two of us! A nice break for this tired mama! Thank you Superpop and Granne!

Side story: The kids rode horses a couple days at camp. The first day Sydney was too nervous and she wouldn't get on the horse. We talked about it that night and I told her that she could try again the next day if she wanted. Well the next day when I went to pick her up she was so excited to tell me that she did it! She rode the horse with Cameron that day. She kept say, "You proud of me mama? You proud of me?" And I really was SO proud of her!

July 4th Twenty14

Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. I love being outside in the warm summer weather spending time with friends and family and watching fireworks. It's seriously so much fun. Not to mention it's also our anniversary (yep that's right, we've been married 8 YEARS! Crazy-pants!)

This year we had our annual bike parade. I'm proud to say that the parade is really growing. So fun! We even had someone come play music (aka their banjo) for us from the back of a pickup truck! Ryan's cousin Brett was in town so he got to participate in the festivities too. He was awesome and helped with bike decorating, which is perhaps the most important job of the day! Then when the sun set we went to watch the fireworks at the golf course with Papa and Mimi. It was so fun! Kelton participated in everything like a champ. Now that I think about it, this was his first official holiday!

Side note: To celebrate our anniversary, my mom and dad watched the girls so that Ryan and I (and Kelton) could go out to dinner. It was so nice! When we were done with dinner it was still early and we weren't quite ready to pick the girls up so I came up with a great activity for us…pedicures! My hubby is such a trooper! (Secretly I think he loved it!) Oh, and a little special surprise showed up at my house! So beautiful. Thank you my love! I'm so lucky to have you!

Kelton's One Month Old!

Kelton is One Month Old!

July 2, 2014
Weight: 10.5 pounds
Length: 22 inches

So Kelton, what are you up to at one month old?

  • You are a big time sleepy bear! You're sleeping about 5 hours straight at night, which is great and then you conk out for a big part of the day. You tend to wake up more late evening and right before you head to bed.
  • You love to be held and carried around. It's so sweet to have you cuddle up on our chests or in our arms.
  • You are a fantastic eater. You are eating about 8 times a day right now.
  • You have graduated from newborn diapers and newborn clothes and are now in size 1 diapers and 3 month clothes.
  • You somehow manage to pull your hair all the time. You get so upset, because you have no idea that you're the culprit! I'll have to admit, it's pretty cute. :)
  • You are not in love with the pacifier, but you'll definitely take it at times.
  • You are sleeping in the rock n' play in mommy and daddy's room right now. You were not a fan of the pack n' play like your sisters were.
  • You are a super easy going little guy with a great disposition. You only really get fussy when your tired or hungry.
  • You are a big stretcher. It's super cute.
  • You are such a sweet little man. We are so excited to have you as part of our family and can't believe how much you've changed already. We love you little guy.
