Kicking off 2014 with a bang!

In true Volk style, we hit the ground running in 2014! First things first, New Years brunch with our beloved neighborhood friends.

Then a trip to the dentist. Funniest part about the whole trip is that Cameron BEGGED me to make the appointment. I'm not kidding, she asked me about 20 times and even cried a couple times when I told her we had to wait until the had an appointment available! Needless to say, they both enjoyed it and did great!

Cameron started dance class. I'm only able to watch the first and last class, so I have no idea how it's going, other than she's really having fun with it! They were pretty darn cute the first class that I got to watch.

Random iPad zone session (Sadly, this happens a little bit more frequently now because Mama is tired!)

Fun times playing in a new teepee that the girls got for Christmas!

Did I ever mention that Sydney decided she was going to start wearing big girl panties?? Yep a couple days before Christmas she saw Cameron and her friend using the big girl potty and she decided she was going to do it too… all the way. We threw away her diapers and went for it. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't exactly ready for the whole potty training process, it's so much work! But you can't pass up an opportunity like that. It's been a bit of a long process, but she's doing pretty well for the most part. However there are some days… such as this one where we went through all of our back up panties and had to drive home commando from Superpop and Granne's. (Mother of the Year award!)

Ryan and I got to take a quick trip to Vegas. It was technically a work trip, but we got to do some fun stuff too!

We got quite a bit of snow. The girls thought it was pretty cool, for awhile, then they just kept asking when it was going to go away. We did however "hit the slopes" and have some fun sledding.

Hey, at least she didn't go peepee in her pants!

Granne's preschool, look at that sweet smile!

This cracks me up, Cameron is such a little nut. :)

On a sad note, our neighbors moved away to Oregon in the middle of January. I was SO SAD! {TEAR, TEAR, TEAR} Ian is one of Cameron's best little buddies in the whole world (if you ask her, she's going to marry him some day!) I took this picture of them watching a movie the day they left. Such sweet little friends.

IT'S A….

BOY!

Yep, that's right, BV3 is a little baby boy! We are super excited. The tides are turning in the Volk house, that's for sure. Out with the pink and in with the blue!

A couple other December happenings...

A couple other things that happened in December…

Miss Regina's birthday! We made her handprint sea creatures.

Cameron insists on having every single animal that she owns on her bed with her. Pretty soon she's not going to fit in her bed! Ha This is how I found her one day during her nap.

Aunt Annie's birthday! We made her a sweet sign, which I'm sure she now has hanging on her bedroom wall ;)

Christmas Time

This Christmas was so much fun! The girls were old enough to really get what was going on and they completely got into all the traditions. I think it's safe to say we all really enjoyed it! Highlights from the Christmas season this year include:

Decorating the Christmas tree.

Dancing by the Christmas tree.

Elmer the Elf (on the Shelf) visiting. Cameron and Sydney really had fun with Elmer this year, every morning they would rush down to find him in his new spot.

Visiting Santa. Cameron wrote Santa a letter this year, she really wanted a purple, princess clock with bells on top (I have no idea where she came up with that! Good thing "Santa" was able to find one). Both girls were a little nervous to sit on Santa's lap. Cameron got up her courage and did it, Sydney however just kept saying "No Santa! No Santa!", so we finally compromised and Mommy sat on Santa's lap and Sydney sat on Mommy's lap. Poor Santa! HA

We made gingerbread houses, twice! Once with graham crackers, and once with a kit. This was the graham cracker go around.

Cameron had a little Christmas program at school. They sung a bunch of songs…it was very cute.

And then came the actual celebration! We, of course, left cookies and milk for Santa before we headed over to Papa and Mimi's house.

The girls had so much fun at Papa and Mimi's!

Then it was home to bed so Santa could come. On Christmas morning, the girls found Santa's sparkly footprints on the carpet and LOTS of presents under the tree.

(Santa came through with the princess clock!!)

Then Christmas afternoon we went over the river and through the woods to Superpop and Granne's house for some more fun.

All in all, it was a very fun and blessed Christmas season. We are so thankful for the gift of Baby Jesus, and the time we had to spend together as a family.
