The Fair

No summer is complete without a trip to the fair/stock show, and this summer is no exception! The nice thing is the Boulder County Fair takes place about 5 minutes from our house. We of course hit up the rides (which were outrageously expensive) and the girls had a blast.

Then we headed over to the petting zoo/pony rides. Cameron was all about the pony ride, but interestingly enough, Sydney declined. Instead she choose to check out the animals. Sydney's favorite animal was a cute little baby goat. She kept trying to go over and pet it, but that little sucker was pretty quick. I think the "highlight" of the petting zoo experience was when a little cow tried to eat Sydney's hair, which she wasn't a huge fan of. And if you as Cameron what the highlight was, she'd say when the Lama peed (which to be perfectly honest was pretty darn amazing, I swear, that thing peed for like 5 minutes!).

When we realized how expensive (questionable looking) fair food was, we decided to try out another Longmont dining establishment, SmashBurger. It's fairly new and it actually ended up being pretty decent considering.

Fun times, fun times.

"Camping"

We're not quite ready to venture out on a camping trip with our two little hoodlums yet...what can I say, we're just not that hardcore. So in lieu of a summer 2013 camping trip we opted for a backyard camping adventure. And I must say, it was a big hit! Daddy and the girls set up the tent and the girls got to spend some time playing around in it. Then Daddy and Cameron slept in the tent all night long! Cameron was totally stoked to eat treats, play with her flashlight, and see the stars.

Vegas Twenty13

Any parent knows that having time away alone with your honey-poo is just as important as spending time with your kids. You NEED time to reconnect and rest. Well a couple weeks ago Ryan and I did just that, we headed out of town JUST THE TWO OF US! It was so, so wonderful to have time to hang out and have a full conversation without being interrupted. Plus we got to eat a ton of yummy food, see a show (KA, Cirque Du Soleil it was so cool!), walk around, and sit at the pool. I even read a book! I didn't even care that it was 105 degrees in Vegas. :)

We had sushi at Nobu...it was AMAZING! I felt like the scene in What About Bob where he's eating diner and follows every bite with "Mmmmm mmmm mmm" :)

The girls didn't miss us at all! They had a blast at Superpop and Granne's house. They got to go to the pool, play at the park, go on walks and ride the pony's at the grocery store.

I love the caption that came along with this photo...
"Is this your first rodeo?"
HAHA, cute!

Drive In Move (Pinterest Comes to Life)

Pinterest is totally addicting! Who's with me? Seriously, I have pinned a gazillion different things on my Pinterest boards, but actually brining all these great things to life...well that's a completely different story. Who actually has time to be super crafty pants all the time? I WISH I did, but that's just not reality. (TEAR)

HOWEVER, a couple weeks ago a friend of my had a little get together and completely brought some awesome Pinterest ideas to life. It was AWESOME! We had a "Drive in Movie" night. All of the kids decorated boxes to look like cars and then everyone "parked" in the backyard and watched Horton Hears a Who. But the fun didn't stop there. The kids each made their own "treat necklaces" by stringing Life Saver Gummies, Fruit Loops, cookies, and other fun treats. Plus they all had bags of popcorn, lemonade and glow-in-the-dark bracelets.

Cameron and Sydney had a blast, although Sydney didn't last too long in her car before she wanted to get up and wonder around. But...it was awesome. :)
