Gobble Gobble

We kicked off Thanksgiving 2012 a couple weeks ago with the Longmont Turkey Trot. We were originally planning on pushing both girls in the double stroller, but when the weather forecast predicted lots of coldness the morning of the run, we decided to make some last minute plans. Superpop and Granne took Cameron for the night, and I made a quick call to a friend to see if I could borrow her rice packs to keep Miss Sydney warm.

Saturday morning's weather held true to the forecast, it was pretty cold. But luckily it didn't start to get really cold and snowy until later in the day. We bundled up, packed Sydney in the stroller with a bunch of heated rice sacks and blankets and headed to the starting line.

The race was great. Sydney was super cozy and fell asleep for the first part of the race. And considering that I haven't really been able to run very much lately, I actually felt pretty good. The best part of the whole day... we won free entry to the Broomfield Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning! Which was perfect since we were planning on spending Thanksgiving with my mom and dad down in Broomfield.

Thanksgiving morning Ryan and I headed down to Broomfield for our second Turkey Trot of the year. The girls stayed with Superpop and Granne while we ran. It was a BEAUTIFUL day. Cool, but not cold and sunny. There was a little bit of wind that wasn't ideal, but what can you do. I felt great and actually beat my Longmont Turkey Trot time by 5 minutes, which I was pretty excited about. Ryan ran a great race too.

After the run, we grabbed Starbucks and a newspaper and headed to my mom and dad's to research the Black Friday Sales. I've never really done Black Friday shopping before, but my sister and I decided that we should give it a shot. After devising a shopping plan we sat down for dinner. We had a super yummy turkey dinner complete with coconut cream pie for dessert (Cameron was super excited because she got to help Superpop make the pie). Sydney LOVED the green bean casserole and Cameron was obsessed with the sparkling cider.

Jenna and I headed out to the Black Friday sales at about 9pm. All I'll say is it was definitely an experience! We got some good deals, waited in some crazy lines, and all in all had a pretty good time.

Before I sign off, I want to share a few of the things that I'm thankful for, I am truly one very blessed girl. I'm thankful to my wonderful husband for all that he is and all that he does for our family. I'm thankful for my two beautiful baby girls who bring me such joy. I'm thankful for my family, my friends and all of the wonderful things we have been blessed with. Most of all I'm thankful for Jesus and the gift he gave when he died on the cross.

Daddy's Birthday Party

Ryan's birthday was Wednesday. We had a little breakfast celebration for him in the morning, and then I was planning a fun evening out for the two of us. Unfortunately, Miss Sydney wasn't feeling so hot, so the evening out got canned. :( Instead we had pizza and beer at home. Not completely horrible, but I was kind of bummed.

Happy Birthday My Love! The girls and I are so thankful that you're our man! :)

The big 3-0...yikes!

That's right folks, I have moved into a new decade of my life...my 30's. But in the words of Miss Annie Walsh Kahr, "30 is going to be GREAT!"

Thursday, the ACTUAL birthday, wasn't anything too exciting. The girls and I had a mini lunch celebration at Superpop and Granne's house (complete with a Royal Red Robin Burger (YUM), cookie cake and balloons) which was really fun.

But the real excitement began Friday night when Ryan and I headed to Denver for a weekend ALONE! Oh my gosh it was amazing!

Friday we had a late dinner at Maggiano's.Then Saturday we SLEPT IN (yes it was WONDERFUL), got up went for a run, had breakfast at Snooze, went back to the hotel, took a nap, got cleaned up, did a little shopping and then, headed out for a progressive dinner.

Now I need to explain the progressive dinner. You see, we hardly ever go to Denver. Yes, it is kind of sad considering it's so darn close. But with kids and all, "close" just doesn't cut it. We need really, really, really close to make it a viable outing these days. Anyway, a few weeks ago I had the realization that we really need to take advantage of Denver. We don't need to plan some big, far away trip. Denver is right there. Thus the reason for the Denver getaway.

Ok, now back to the progressive dinner. Since our time in Denver was short, AND we probably won't get back there again anytime soon, I decided we need to take full advantage. As most of you know I'm a little bit obsessed with food, so when we started to plan dinner on Saturday, I couldn't pick just one place to go. So thus, the progressive dinner concept was born. We hit up 3 amazing restaurants though out the evening. It was such a fun idea. We spread it out so we weren't completely stuffed and we got to try a nice variety of dishes and enjoy the different ambience of each place.

First stop, Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs Restaurant for some quality dogs and beer.

Second stop, TAG for some sushi and "yuppie" drinks.

Third stop, Cheesecake Factory for some yummo cheesecake.

We contemplated a fourth stop, but I was pretty tired (it was like 9pm...geeze!) so we just decided to go back to the hotel and watch a movie.

Sunday morning we enjoyed sleeping an extra hour for daylight savings, then we got up went to church and did a little more shopping (I was in desperate need of clothes). Then we picked up our little munchkins from Granne and Superpop's house. I think it's safe to say they didn't miss us TO much. :)

Thank you honey-poo for the fun weekend! And thank you Superpop and Granne for taking care of our little munchkins. And thank you everyone else for the birthday wishes. Here's to 30! It IS going to be great!

Halloween

Halloween was so much fun this year! The girls really got into it. Longmont is really good about having a lot of family activities, and the Saturday before Halloween they had a parade along Main Street followed by trick-or-treating at the local businesses. Sydney cracked me up the whole time. She thought it was really cool to carry her bucket and have people give her candy. :)

Then, of course, Wednesday we geared up for some trick-or-treating action in our neighborhood. Cameron was a cowgirl and Sydney was a little 50's girl in a poodle skirt. The weather was awesome and we had a ton of fun.

The girls were making me laugh when we got home. They both wanted to stand on the front step and wait for trick-or-treaters to show up. Sydney stood there talking (yelling) at everyone in the street! Haha
