Happy B-Day Grandpa Summers!

For years and years my Grandpa's birthday was January 26. Then a few years ago he found out that there had been some mistake with his birth certificate (or something along those lines) and his birthday was actually January 25. How crazy would that be after a lifetime of celebrating on one day to have to suddenly switch? I wonder if that messes with all your legal documents. I'll have to ask him about that! Anyway, he now celebrates on January 25. If you ask me, I think he should take full advantage and celebrate both days!

We just wanted to wish you happy birthday Grandpa! (I guess this would be day two of the two day event!) Hope you had a wonderful time celebrating!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Love you and miss you!

Keystone

This past weekend we spent a few days up in the mountains with Ryan's mom and dad at their condo in Keystone. We had an awesome time. Ryan skied one day and then we went snowshoeing the other two days we were there. Cameron went with us on the first snowshoe outing. We bundled her up and put her in the backpack, which worked out great. The second day we snowshoed, Cameron stayed back with Mimi, which turned out to be a good thing because we were in snow up over our knees!

Cameron was obsessed with the remotes, she actually pushed a button on one of them that temporally messed up the TV. I had to call Comcast to get it fixed!

 On the table, crazy girl!

Cameron is taking after her cousin Cole, she loves phones and gets pretty upset when you take one away from her.

Hanging out at the coffee shop on Sunday morning.

Look at her cute little boots!

Getting ready to hit the trail.

My husband is such a great daddy!

 Hoofing it up the trail.

Cameron passed out while we were walking. I kept making Ryan stop so we could make sure she was still breathing!

 Our wonderful little family.

This was on snowshoe excursion day two.

Cameron's Baby Doll

We got Cameron a little baby doll for Christmas and she absolutely loves it! It's so cute to watch her pick up her baby, hug her and carry her around as she plays. I just think it's so funny how God wired little girls to naturally have an interest in "girly" sort of things like this.

Babies Galore

When Ryan and I first got married, we were part of a small group of other newly married couples. None of us had kids and we were all just trying to figure out how to be husbands and wives. It was such a wonderful group to be part of during that phase of our marriage. We don't meet anymore because our homes are so spread out that it started getting hard to get together on a regular basis.

A lot has changed in the past few years...now everyone from the group has kids! Cameron and I have been getting together with a few of the girls and their newest little ones the past few weeks. Here are a few pictures from our latest gathering.

These are the newest additions to the group, Dexter (left) and Holt (right)

Cameron checking out the babies, I love how both boys have their hands up in a "Yay" position!

Cameron playing on the chair with Beau and Dexter. Beau is two and a half and Cameron loves chasing him around.

It's impossible to get all the kiddos to face the camera for a group shot, but we tried anyway!

Cameron and Holt all buckled up in their seats.

These families have really been a huge blessing in our life. It's really neat to watch how God puts friends in your life at just the right time!

Eleven Months Old!

Cameron is Eleven Months Old!

January 13, 2011
Weight: 17 pounds
Length: 29.5 inches
Head: 46 centimeters

Eleven months old, that means my baby will be one in 31 days. I just can't believe it! Ever single day of the last eleven months has been a blessing. I can't even remember what my life was like before Miss Cameron joined us in the world. Words can't even describe the happiness I feel being her mommy.

Once again this months measurements involved me wrestling with Cameron to try and get the numbers, so who know how correct they are. But if they are right, she is in the 4th percentile for weight, 75th percentile for length and 82 percentile for hear circumference.

So Cameron, what are you up to at eleven months old?
  • You are a great eater! You really like meat—chicken, ground beef, turkey—and you also like cheese, baked apples, and a whole bunch of other things.
  • You eat "real" food three to four times a day and nurse four times a day.
  • You love to "reorganize" cabinets and baskets, which basically means emptying the contents onto the floor. :)
  • You celebrated your first Christmas and New Years which was a lot of fun for everyone.
  • You can stand by yourself for several seconds at a time.
  • You can walk with the help of your fancy walking toys.
  • You have started talking a lot more. No words yet, but you're getting very close with all the sounds that you make.
  • You love to explore and learn about new things.
  • You're wearing 9 and 12 month clothes and size 2 or 2-3 diapers.
  • You are becoming more and more interested in your toys. Right now you love your baby doll, your phone, your airplane, and your walker. You also like balls.
  • You love to play with mommy and daddy's cell phones and the house phone.
  • You know what "No" means and you get upset when we tell you no.
  • You really like to play with other kids.
  • You love to point.
  • You love to laugh and play with us and we can't get enough of our sweet little girl!

Bring on the Food

Many of you have heard epic Rachel eating stories...In high school my basketball team would go to Noodles & Company and I would quickly finish my meal and then would work on finishing whatever was left in everyone else's bowls...The first time I went to Annie's parent's house for dinner she told her mom to make an extra Mexican lasagna because I was coming (coincidentally, that was also the first time I met Ryan, how embarrassing!)...After crew practiced one Saturday a bunch of my teammates and I decided it would be fun to have a 1lb hamburger eating contest. I proceed to finish my burger first and then started eating other people's fries...You get the point.

Well, I think Cameron is finally starting to take after her mommy, she loves to eat! She has been putting down food like a champ lately. I'm talking big portions for such a little peanut. It was bound to happen sooner or later, after all she is my daughter! Plus, she is such a little busy body. She never stops unless she's asleep, so she needs to be refuling that little body of hers.

The best part is she has so much fun during meal time. She'll sit for 30 or 45 minutes talking to me while she eats her food. It's so much fun!

New Years

We finally got snow in Colorado, the only problem is it missed Christmas by a week. Bummer huh? We did however have a white (and freezing cold) New Years. I guess you've just got to take what you can get.

Our New Year's was relative uneventful this year. I think that's kind of what happens when you have kids. :) We bought a couple movies, made spaghetti and just hung out at home for the evening...exciting I know! We did manage to stay up until midnight and we rung in the New Year watching the ball drop in Times Square. To be honest, I kind of prefer a night hanging out with my hubby to partying it up with people I barely know. So all in all it was a good night.

Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

Getting ready to head outside to make a trip to the store.

Cameron cracks me up when she starts pointing and "lecturing" us!

Testing out the new car seat that we got from Superpop and Grandma for Christmas. Now Daddy has to figure out how the heck to put it in the car!

Happy New Year! Here's to a new year and new adventures.
